Few things have the power to bring people together as naturally as sport. In Slovenia, sport holds a particularly special place: we celebrate the achievements of our athletes, share their defining moments and, time and again, experience how a sporting success can unite an entire country.
On The Day of Slovenian Sport, 23 September, we want to support sport in the area where, as lawyers, we can contribute most – through our professional expertise.
ODI Law is therefore joining a special pro bono initiative organised by the Slovenian Sports Lawyers Association, whose members will provide free legal advice to athletes, coaches, sports professionals and other stakeholders on legal matters arising in the world of sport.
A sporting career is about much more than training, competition and results. It can involve contracts, transfers, status issues, rights and obligations, sponsorship arrangements and many other decisions that may have a significant impact on an athlete's future.
This is where timely legal advice can make a real difference. An issue that could be addressed relatively easily at an early stage can, without the right information or as a result of a rushed decision, develop into a dispute or create obstacles with long-term consequences for a sporting career.
The initiative aims to make legal support more accessible to athletes, raise awareness of their rights and help them make important decisions from a better-informed position.
ODI Law will be represented in the initiative by our Partner Tine Mišic, LL.M., an experienced lawyer whose professional work has long been complemented by a genuine interest in sport and sports law. As a sports arbitrator, he also has first-hand insight into the legal issues that arise beyond the field of play and can significantly affect athletes, clubs and other stakeholders.
Tine will be available for pro bono legal consultations on 23 September 2026 at tine.misic@odilaw.com.
Tine Mišic, LL.M.: “Sport has always been close to me, so it means a great deal to have the opportunity to bring together two areas I know well. For athletes, a single contract or decision can affect years of hard work, which is why access to high-quality legal advice is so important. The achievements of Slovenian athletes that resonate around the world are built on dedication, hard work and sacrifice. Every small piece matters in this remarkable mosaic of success, and we are very pleased to support athletes along the way.”
For ODI Law, participating in this initiative means more than providing free legal advice for a single day. We believe that professional expertise also carries a responsibility to contribute to the community in which we work.
Sport gives Slovenia a great deal – extraordinary stories, role models and moments when an entire country comes together around a shared achievement. On this occasion, we want to support the sports community in the way we know best, with our legal expertise.
