Important notice: Scam attempt with unauthorized use of our law firm’s name

We have been informed on an attempted web scam with fraudulent representation in the name of Law Firm Ilić & Partners LLP.

Several electronic messages referring to alleged intellectual property breaches have been sent from the domain @gmail.com and/or other domains. We would like to stress that no such messages have been sent by our law firm, all electronic messages of Law Firm Ilić & Partners LLP are always sent from addresses carrying the domain @odilaw.com.

We would like to add that the mentioned attempted abuse of the name and trademark of Law Firm Ilić & Partners LLP does not originate from our electronic systems and we may therefore not prevent it. It is crucial, however, that all our information and security systems are operating uninterruptedly and enable data security. The competent authorities have already been informed of this attempted fraud.

We would like to appeal to eventual recipients of such electronic messages to act in accordance with key principals of digital safety, and refrain from accessing the forwarded web links and/or opening of the attached files since this may cause computer infection, server breach or other damage.

According to information from the Slovenian Computer Security Incident Response Team (SI-CERT), such messages can contain a trojan horse transmitter (PXA Stealer), characterised by misappropriation of saved passwords and web browsers data, crypto wallets, VPN and IM applications, and other information about the system. In case of a start of such malware, SI-CERT recommends an immediate disconnection of the system from the web, and a reinstallation of the operating system. Additionally, it is recommended to replace all the saved passwords as well as those passwords being entered at the time of the infection.
